4. What do you need to become a good and successful interpreter. I think one of the most important aspects is diction and accent in oral interpreting. So let’s do Round Robin. You have the papers with tongue twisters. Very quickly read tongue twister then pass it to your partner and so on. After it choose one person who will read it to us. Ok. You have only 1 minute.

The next competition consists of participants stories about themselves.рассказ участников о себе. Вид перевода - синхронный.
1 участник рассказывает о себе на английском языке.
2 из другой пары переводит его рассказ. учитывается умение быстро ,четко и правильно переводить.
Затем участникам даются листки с текстом на русском языке, который им надо перевести на английский язык.(3-4 предложения).
The second competition is devoted to the ability of literary translation. At first I want to tell you about limericks. Limerick is a short funny poem consisting of 5 lines where 1, 2, 5 lines have rhymes and 4,5 have rhymes between them. Usually the first line begins so:
There was a … from…,
and the last ends in unusual comic and unexpected way.
( На доске в презентации даны примеры лимериков и их перевода.)
There was a Young Lady of Niger,Who smiled as she rode on a tiger; They returned from the rideWith the Lady inside,And the smile on the face of the tiger. Одна хохотушка-девицаЛюбила кататься на львице.Признаться вам честно –Девица исчезла,Зато улыбается львица.

And now let's have a musical break. We are listening to an extract of some song. But we should not only listen to the song but try to understand the theme of it, the main idea of it.
Музыкальная пауза. (Прослушивание песни и краткий анализ содержания).
дублирование видеозаписи (домашнее задание)
All of us like cartoons. But do you know that interpreters have to translate films and cartoons too? Our participants are ready to show us their talents in dubbing of cartoons. They will be not only interpreters but actors at the same time. Let's enjoy their abilities!
I hope you have enjoyed our lesson. We have learnt about the profession of the interpreter. It is exciting but difficult at the same time. We can do next: we can show results of our work today in a poem named cinqaine (French). In the first line we write our theme of the lesson: only 1 word. Give ideas. In the second line: 2 adjectives; in the third line-3 verbs, in the fourth line- the main idea, your personal attitude to this theme or profession, in the last line-equivalent or synonym to the first line. Из предложенных вариантов для синквейна выбираются наиболее подходящие слова.
